Frank Warren hits back at Anthony Joshua over Tyson Fury sparring offer

Tyson Fury's promoter Frank Warren has launched an attack on Anthony Joshua after the two-time heavyweight champion offered to spar with the Gypsy King ahead of his rematch with Deontay Wilder .

Joshua beat Andy Ruiz Jr. last month to reclaim his heavyweight world titles following his shock defeat to the Mexican-American in June.

Following the victory attentions turned towards Fury's upcoming bout with Wilder, and speaking to Sky Sports last month Joshua said: "Fury, if you need me for sparring, we're going to fight one day. I've sparred Tyson Fury when we were kids anyway. I would go out to America and spar Tyson Fury and get him ready for this Wilder fight."

Joshua has since admitted he regrets the offer, and speaking to BT Sport Warren criticised the 30-year-old for the proposal.

"Who wants to see him (Fury) sparring with Anthony Joshua? What a load of b**," he said.

"We want to see him fight Anthony Joshua, forget about the sparring. The real deal counts.

"The public want to see it. I believe he will come through his fight with Deontay Wilder and let's see the Anthony Joshua fight.

"It would be the biggest sporting event since England won the World Cup in 1966."

Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn also appears to be sceptical about Joshua sparring with Fury, but said he would not do anything to stop his client if it was really something he wanted to do.

Speaking to IFL TV , Hearn said: "I wouldn’t be surprised if he went out there.

"It’s a bit weird because he might fight the winner. Josh is his own boss, if he fancies it, he’ll just go.

"Doesn’t matter what I or Rob (McCracken, trainer) will say, he’ll just go. I wouldn’t want to open up that cut."
