Tyson Fury's promoter Frank Warren has suggested that there is more chance of any fight between The Gypsy King and Anthony Joshua taking place in Saudi Arabia than the United Kingdom.
Following Fury's stunning victory over Deontay Wilder on Saturday it seems inevitable that he will take on AJ, although a rematch against The Bronze Bomber for Fury and Joshua taking on Kubrat Pulev and Oleksandr Usyk as mandatory challengers will go ahead first.
Fans are desperate to see Fury v Joshua take place in the UK, with Wembley Stadium touted as a possible option, but speaking to the Telegraph Warren seemed to hint the financial clout of Saudi Arabia means the Middle East country is the most likely venue.
"You go back to Ali fighting Foreman in Zaire when lots of money was put up, you go back to the Thrilla in Manila (Ali v Frazier), where money was put up. That happens in boxing," he said.
Warren also revealed he has never spoken to Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn, and insists it will not be down to him what happens.
He continued: "It's not about his ego, it's about what the fighters want. It's not Hearn's decision on this. We've got a contractual position on this.
"There's no rematch clause (for Fury). Joshua does have to fight Pulev, he does have to fight Usyk- so all those obstacles would have to be overcome if we want to go straight to the Fury-Joshua fight. That's tough.
"All I can say from our end is that if we can do it we'll do it, for obvious reasons. I think Tyson will do a job on him."
It has recently been reported that Fury wants to make Wilder an offer to skip a trilogy fight, but Wilder looks set to reject this , meaning any clash between Fury and Joshua is likely to be pushed back until November or December.
