Frank Vogel says ‘there is concern’ Anthony Davis could miss Restart opener

We have a little bit of added drama for the lead up to Thursday’s Restart opening night match-up between the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers, aside from the fact the game is being seen as a preview of the Western Conference Finals.

Earlier on Tuesday morning we gathered that Anthony Davis did not practice for the Lakers but head coach Frank Vogel later told reporters on Tuesday that the Lakers do in fact have some doubt about whether Davis will be ready to go for the season restart opener, according to Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times. Davis suffered a poke in the left eye during Saturday’s scrimmage win against the Orlando Magic.

The Lakers are obviously playing the long game and the Clippers will notably be without bench scoring dynamo Lou Williams, who is currently in quarantine after the great Magic City Chicken Wing Incident of 2020. If the Lakers do without Davis in the opener, based on the way Frank Vogel played the situation on Saturday’s 48-minute game, Kyle Kuzma would be a solid bet to get the start in his place.
