Frank Skinner cancels Edinburgh Festival Fringe show due to family health issue

English comedian Frank Skinner has cancelled his upcoming run of new show, 30 Years Of Dirt, at Edinburgh's Festival Fringe, due to a "family health issue".

The funny man was due to begin his run of the show today, Thursday August 4, until Wednesday, August 24 - but a spokesperson for the star said on Wednesday night that the show is now off, Sky News reports.

The statement on behalf of Frank read: "Due to a family health issue, Frank Skinner is unable to travel for the foreseeable future, therefore his sold-out 30 Years of Dirt stand-up show at Assembly, Edinburgh this August has regrettably been cancelled. All ticket holders will receive a full refund."

Frank's representative confirmed that his Absolute Radio show, that runs weekly, will still continue as normal for the star. Skinner began his career in comedy at Edinburgh's Festival Fringe in 1987, where he "spent £400 of his last £435 booking a room" there to take part.

Four years on in 1991, Frank returned to the capital and took home the event's most prestigious prize at the time, known as the Perrier Award for best show, and has gone on to become one of the biggest names in British comedy.
