Frank of Ireland viewers can't agree as they react to first episode

New comedy Frank of Ireland hit our screens tonight and despite the star-studded cast, the first episode was met with a mixed response.

The Channel 4 show starring brothers Brian and Domhnall Gleeson followed the adventures of layabout Frank (Brian Gleeson), a failed musician who is trying to win his ex Aine back.

Frank is aided by Domhnall's faithful lapdog Doofus as he tries to learn MMA to impress Aine.

But things go awry when Frank gets his MMA and MDMA mixed up on more than one occassion.

The Malahide-set show went down a storm with some viewers on Twitter although others thought many of the gags fell flat.

One man summed things up neatly, saying: "I cant decide whether I love or hate."

While one woman wrote: "Nope. Not feeling it although I love the Gleesons. Too try hard."

And another man said: "Can’t tell if I’m enjoying this or not."

Apart from the undecided, some have already made up their minds that the show is not for them.

One wrote: "Wondering about the sense of humour of all these people finding Frank of Ireland hilarious. I'm finding it to be s***e."

Another sarcastically added: "Well if nothing else, Frank of Ireland reminded me of how hard it is to write good comedy."

But some are already on board for the adventures of Frank and his ragtag bunch of friends and family.

One fan said: "Frank of Ireland already has me hooked! Brilliant."

Another man wrote: "Quite enjoying the madness of Frank of Ireland so far. A Father Ted meets Young Offenders but super dark vibe."

While another added: "Frank of Ireland is a bit good, isn’t it?"
