Frank Ocean cancels European tour

Frank Ocean has cancelled his European tour, including an appearance at next week's V festival. The R&B singer gave no explanation, admitting he feels "like an asshole right now".

Ocean had been scheduled to perform on Saturday at the Way Out West festival in Sweden, followed by gigs at Flow, Pukkelpop, V, Rock en Seine, Bestival and nine dates opening for Coldplay. But just hours before the Swedish concert, the Odd Future star called the whole thing off, citing the vagaries of his schedule.

"Let me start by saying I feel like an asshole right now, but a tough decision had to be made in regard to my schedule over the next months," Ocean wrote. "The casualties of that decision include my appearance at upcoming festivals in Europe and my opening slot on the European leg of the Coldplay world tour. Sorry as fuck, I'll be back if you'll have me."

Ocean has seen a surge of popularity following the release of his album Channel Orange, which debuted at No 2 in the UK. It's not clear whether he has now shuffled his schedule to accommodate bigger concerts, or if he is suffering from vocal problems. He walked off stage after just four songs at Friday's Oya festival in Norway; organisers said he had lost his voice.
