Frank Leboeuf launches astonishing attack on 'cheat' Luis Suarez

Ex-Chelsea and France defender Frank Leboeuf has laid into Barcelona star Luis Suarez, and says he's happy that Liverpool staged an epic fightback to dump their former forward out of the Champions League.

The Reds came from 3-0 down in their first encounter to beat Barca 4-0 at Anfield in the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals thanks to braces from Divock Origi and Gini Wijnaldum.

Despite stating his belief that he thought he'd be warmly welcomed, Suarez received a hostile reception at Anfield, where he spent much of the first half attempting to win fouls.

The Uruguayan also aimed a kick at Reds left-back Andy Robertson, who had to be replaced by Wijnaldum at half-time.

And speaking to RMC Sport , 1998 World Cup winner Leboeuf laid into the forward.

"I am a fan of Barcelona , but I was glad to see them eliminated on Tuesday because of Luis Suarez. I have no respect for a footballer like him," he said.

"He's a cheat and I hate the way he plays. If I had faced him, I would have done everything I could to get him off the pitch.

"What he did to Ghana at the World Cup, the two times he bit opponents. He's a bad example for young people."

It was confirmed on Thursday that Suarez will undergo a knee operation that could curtail his season.
