Frank Leboeuf casts doubt on Chelsea's top four chances and hits out at Kai Havertz

Frank Leboeuf has serious doubts over Chelsea's top four prospects following their indifferent start to the season.

The former Blue has called out a lack of cohesion at Stamford Bridge after a summer of much upheaval.

Frank Lampard bought in a host of new faces but the superstar line-up on paper has not yet gelled on the pitch.

Chelsea squandered several leads against Southampton on Saturday to draw 3-3 which saw them drop more points.

And the Frenchman is less than impressed by what he's seen as they target an improvement on last term's fourth place finish.

"Im not convinced at all about Chelsea right now," Leboeuf said on ESPN FC.

"It’s like they don’t know each other, they’re not fit enough, I’m very worried.

"I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt because I don’t know what they’re worth, but, really, if they keep on performing like that, for sure they’re not going to finish in the top four."

Kai Havertz was Chelsea's most expensive summer import following his move from Bayer Leverkusen.

He was the second German to arrive after Timo Werner, a man who has hit the ground running.

Leboeuf is far from convinced by Havertz thus far though and has little faith in him improving any time soon.

"I’m not convinced about Havertz, I’m not that optimistic," he added.

"I’m very pleased with Werner, he’s a real satisfaction.

"Thiago Silva should have been back because it’s crucial for Chelsea to have a real leader at the back and that’s the main problem.

"They all have to work hard physically to make sure they can play together and be stronger together."

Chelsea's defensive frailties continue to be their biggest problem with Lampard's side shipping nine goals in five games.
