Jermaine Jenas has told Chelsea boss Frank Lampard he has a virtually complete player in Mason Mount.
The 22-year-old grabbed his fifth goal of the season in the 1-0 win over Fulham on Saturday evening in the Premier League.
Mount, now in his second full season at the club, is reaping the rewards of a consistent run in the side and has been in eye-catching form of late.
His strike, which came 12 minutes from time at Craven Cottage, helped lift the pressure on Blues manager Lampard whose side have hit some stuttering form of late.
Following the win by the Thames, Jenas believes Mount is now the first name on the teamsheet for Chelsea.
"He [Mount] is first on Frank's team sheet," the former Tottenham midfielder said on Match of the Day.
"He knows he can rely on him, he scores goals, he’s creative and has got great energy.
"When you look at his game, there isn’t much missing. His technique is impeccable. He has bite in midfield and he’ll defend his teammates."
Mount's goal came after Fulham number one Alphone Areola had made a mess of a cross into the box by Ben Chilwell.
The England international seized on the former PSG shot stopper's mistake by striking a sweet half volley into the net to break the deadlock.
The midfielder could also have added to his tally as he hit the bar earlier in the game.
On the goal, Jenas added: "There’s nobody better in the Chelsea team for this ball to fall for right now.
"The strike, he drops his shoulder, stays over it, and it hits the target."
Next up for Chelsea is a trip to Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday evening.
