Frank Lampard to Chelsea: Expected announcement date as Marina Granovskaia talks progress

Chelsea are still looking for their new head coach to replace Maurizio Sarri, but things are finally progressing with the Blues closer to making their move.

Frank Lampard is set to be announced as the new Blues boss within the coming days as negotiations with the former Chelsea midfielder continue.

It has been a frustrating week for Blues supporters as they await news of Lampard, with Sarri having been confirmed as Juventus head coach last Sunday (June 16).

However, with the Chelsea players having been away on holiday and the transfer ban also looming over Stamford Bridge, it means that the Blues were not in a massive rush to appoint the new boss.

But with the end of June coming around and pre-season just around the corner, the Blues have finally been forced to make their move with both Chelsea and Derby County wanting to resolve the issue.

Lampard has been the main candidate for the role throughout the course of the summer, but Chelsea did not make the formal approach to Derby County to get Lampard from the Midlands club.

However, things appear to be progressing and the Blues are set to appoint Lampard once his returns from his holiday celebrating his 41st birthday.

According to the Derby Telegraph, as of Monday morning Chelsea are still yet to make that formal approach for Lampard, but that is set to come in the next 48 hours.

The Blues are set to appoint their new head coach in the coming days, with Lampard's backroom staff also to be announced as the Blues move on from Sarri.

That means an announcement could be made as soon as Tuesday or Wednesday this week.
