Frank Lampard sends warning to Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham after England call-ups

Frank Lampard has warned Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham not to drop their levels after the Chelsea youngsters were called up to the England national team.

For Tomori, 21, it will be the first time that he has been called up to the senior side, while Abraham, 22, is yet to play for the Three Lions in a competitive match, after featuring in friendlies against Brazil and Germany.

Mason Mount and Ross Barkley could also get the chance to play against Czech Republic and Bulgaria, having also got the nod from Gareth Southgate this week.

Tomori and Abraham have made excellent starts to the season for the Blues, with the former having earned a starting place in the heart of the defence.

Abraham, meanwhile, is currently the highest English goalscorer in the Premier League with seven, and got his first Champions League goal in the 2-1 victory over Lille on Wednesday night.

But while their good form has earned them a spot in the Three Lions spot, Lampard has warned them not to drop off now or get complacent.

"I haven’t [spoken to them] today. I have spoken to them before, I was aware of the call-up coming," Lampard said. "They have big smiles on their faces today, the three of them.

"Ross has been there a while. They are smiley and happy, but I might have to remind them that come Sunday they might have to perform for us.

"It is great news for them, but as I keep saying that it is just the start. The minute any standards drop or complacency kicks in then they will all suffer.

"I am pleased they smile, they need to take this now, something to add to their armoury and say ‘okay I am an England player, I am in the England squad. I need to show even more, game in and game out for us.’"
