Frank Lampard's strongest Chelsea lineup for Bayern Munich second leg without three key players

Frank Lampard and Chelsea face a mammoth task should they wish to make it through to the quarter finals of the Champions League this season.

The Blues faced German giants Bayern Munich in the first leg of their round of 16 tie at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.

However, things didn't go quite to plan when, after a goalless first half, a quick fire double from former Arsenal youngster Serge Gnabry put Bayern in control of the tie.

Things got worse for Chelsea when Robert Lewandowski turned in Alphonso Davies' cross to make it 3-0 to the German side in the 76th minute.

That's how the score would stay, but the Blues still received another blow ahead of the second leg.

Full-back Marcos Alonso was pulled up for a foul on Lewandowski and shown a yellow card, however after going over and having a look on the pitchside screen the referee decided to upgrade the card to red meaning that the defender will have to sit out the second leg.

That comes after midfielder Jorginho talked himself into the referee's book just before Gnabry's opener for his third yellow card of the tournament, meaning that the Italian also misses the game at the Allianz Arena through suspension.

So, considering both suspensions and the injuries that Lampard has to deal with ahead of the match, what would be the strongest team available to the Chelsea boss?

Willy Caballero has been preferred over Kepa Arrizabalaga in recent weeks.

With Alonso suspended Lampard could return to a back four, Azpilicueta is likely to take his place at left-back with Reece James in the right-back role.

Assuming that N'Golo Kante is not fit and Loftus-Cheek is, then the England international could replace the Frenchman in the middle of the park given the absence of Jorginho.

Tammy Abraham pulled up during his post match warm down, but has three weeks to recover so is likely to replace Giroud as the main striker should he be fully fit.

Chelsea strongest XI: Caballero; James, Christensen, Rudiger, Azpilicueta; Kovacic, Loftus-Cheek, Mount; Wilian, Hudson-Odoi; Abraham
