Frank Lampard's message for Billy Gilmour after his impressive showing for Chelsea vs Liverpool

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has said the hard work starts now for Billy Gilmour after his superb performance against Premier League leaders Liverpool.

The 18-year-old impressed in the 2-0 win against Jurgen Klopp's Reds on Tuesday night, picking up the man of the match award after helping the Blues progress to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Gilmour has earned plenty of plaudits from fans and pundits alike for his display against Liverpool, with Lampard also full of praise for the teenager.

But the Blues' head coach insists that he has not seen any change in the Glaswegian since the game on Tuesday, with Lampard urging Gilmour to continue in the same vein as he looks to add to his six appearances for Chelsea so far this season.

Frank Lampard on Billy Gilmour: He is small in stature he is huge in personality and talent.

"Knowing Billy, even at a young age he's a very determined young lad, he's very smart," said Lampard, speaking at his pre-match press conference .

"He'll understand it was a very good game for him, but that the hard work starts now.

"I think he should quite rightly enjoy the moment, and I'm delighted for him. We had a day off. So I'm sure he enjoyed it, he should do, his family were here for the game.

"But in terms of how I've seen him around the place, it's the same attitude, same training, same ethics, same quality, so all good."

Gilmour could feature again this weekend against Everton, with Chelsea short of options in midfield owing to injuries to Mateo Kovacic and N'Golo Kante, while Jorginho is suspended for the game.
