Frank Lampard's January transfer window hint after Chelsea seal last-16 Champions League place

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has revealed the area he thinks the club should strengthen in the transfer market.

The Blues are able to sign players for the first time since his arrival after their transfer ban was reduced last week.

That means heading into the January transfer window, Chelsea are able to sign players, with a host of names from across Europe linked.

Jadon Sancho has been heavily touted for a move to Stamford Bridge, although any deal for the teenage star is more likely to materialise in the summer, with a long list of suitors tracking him.

Ben Chilwell has also been heavily linked with a move to the club, with left-back understood to be a position the club are keen to strengthen.

However, Lampard identified the loss of Eden Hazard, as an area that needs to be addressed.

The Belgian scored 21 goals for Chelsea last season, whilst registering 15 assists in addition.

With that in mind, replacing Hazard's goal threat is the position Lampard highlighted when quizzed about where he would like to strengthen now the club are able to business.

"I think it will be a bit fluid," Lampard told BT Sport after their 2-1 Champions League win over Lille.

"There will be discussions that go on from now about where we can strengthen because, of course, with Eden (Hazard) leaving, we lost a lot of goals and a lot of creation from Eden in that particular position.

"I think what I'm talking about today is we missed a lot of chances so I think we can look at strengthening that position so there is more competition in those areas."
