Frank Lampard's four word message to his Chelsea team following UEFA Super Cup defeat

Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard has sent a simple message to his team following Wednesday night's defeat to Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup.

The game between the two Premier League sides finished as a 2-2 draw after 120 minutes, meaning that where the trophy would end up was decided from the penalty spot.

Goals from Olivier Giroud and Jorginho for Chelsea and a Sadio Mane brace for Liverpool meant that the sides could not be separated.

Former West Ham goalkeeper Adrian was deputising in goal for the injured Alisson, and he would prove to be the Reds' hero, saving the decisive penalty from Tammy Abraham to give Liverpool a 5-4 penalty shootout victory.

Despite the defeat, Lampard was happy with the performance, insisting that his team were unfortunate not to get more from the game.

"My overall feeling from the game is one of pride in the team’s performance and happiness, he said in his post match press conference. "I don’t like losing, I’m a terrible loser as you should be at Chelsea.

"We wanted to win, but we were very unfortunate today. I am proud of the players and if that is a sign of what we can do today then this season we can get better and it’s a really good sign.”

The Chelsea legend has now taken to social media to send a message to fans and players, reiterating his pride in the players' performances.

"Proud of this team," it simply read alongside a picture of a squad huddle during the game.

Lampard will now be looking to pick up his Premier League points as Blues boss when Chelsea host Leicester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
