Frank Lampard's first words after Chelsea's transfer ban is lifted ahead of January window

Frank Lampard has had his say on Chelsea's big news of the day.

This morning the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) announced that the Blues transfer ban - which was handed to them by FIFA earlier in the year - has been cut in half following an appeal.

The Blues were handed the two-window ban in February after the governing body judged that they had broken regulations over the signing of minors from overseas.

Having denied any wrongdoing, the west London outfit launched an appeal to CAS, which was heard on November 20.

The club served the first window of their transfer ban over the summer and were looking to get their ban reduced so that they could sign new players in January.

They will now be permitted to do so after CAS confirmed, via a statement on their website, that the ban has been cut in half.

And Lampard has had his say on the matter.

"It is what it is, now we know. Obviously the club was working towards that, and it's a positive out come for us," he said during his pre-Everton press conference at Cobham on Friday afternoon. "It allows us the potential to look at the market going forward. So I'm pleased from a footballing level.

"It was never my business to get involved in the reasons why or the legal side of it. So from my point of view for the club moving forward it's obviously a good thing."

Lampard also commented on what the ban being lifted could mean in the January transfer window.

"I'm certainly not going to sit here today and go too far down any lines with that," he added. "But we'll see where we are.

"I'm happy with the squad here, we're doing okay. My job is always to focus on the next game and what's in front of us.

"In terms of the bigger picture and what we do going forward, of course that's constant and it is sometimes fluid, so there are no absolute answers at this point."

Once confirmation of CAS' verdict was made public, some Chelsea fans got very creative in terms of who they would like to see arrive at Stamford Bridge in January.

The two popular names are Jadon Sancho and Ben Chilwell.

But with a few weeks until the window opens, it's likely that more names will be linked with the Blues.
