Frank Lampard’s Derby County have clinched the fourth and final Championship playoff spot with a 3-1 victory over West Brom on the last day of the season.

The Rams went into Sunday’s final round of fixtures in sixth place, knowing a win at home would see them hold onto that position, while any slip up would open the door for either Middlesbrough or Bristol City to sneak in.

Martyn Waghorn gave them the perfect start with a 19th minute header, but Stefan Johansen levelled just after half time and with Middlesbrough winning at Rotherham, Lampard's men were in trouble.

However, substitute Mason Bennet restored the lead within minutes of coming on, before Harry Wilson secured the win from the penalty spot.

Leeds United, Aston Villa and Sunday's opponents West Brom had already secured their playoff berths heading into the final day, while Norwich City and Sheffield United clinched automatic promotion last weekend.

It will be Derby’s fourth playoff appearance in six seasons, as they look to end an 11-year stay in the Championship.

They were beaten by eventual playoff winners Fulham in last year’s semi-final, while their last playoff final appearance came in 2014, when Bobby Zamora’s 90th minute goal gave 10-man QPR victory.
