Frank Lampard reveals plan for Juventus transfer target Jorginho

Frank Lampard says Jorginho remains a big player for Chelsea despite links with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

The midfielder was handed his first start since the Premier League restart in the Blues' trip to Sheffield United on Saturday evening.

He has been linked with a reunion with former Blues boss Maurizio Sarri at Juventus, with Aaron Ramsey potentially moving in the opposite direction.

Yet Lampard says everyone is aware of the Italian's quality and that he remains a big player for the club.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the game at Bramall Lane, Lampard pointed to the fact the midfielder remains the vice-captain at Stamford Bridge to show how important he is to the Blues.

Lampard said: "He showed when he came on against Crystal Palace, he got on the ball.

"He used his voice and used his quality to get it ticking and moving.

"He's done that for a big part of our season.

"I've taken many different choices for different reasons but he's still a big player for us.

"He trains well - I keep saying the same thing at the minute - he's the vice captain of the club and a top player."

Lampard's comments come after Jorginho was linked with another reunion with Sarri.

Sarri first managed the midfielder at Napoli before taking him to Stamford Bridge in 2018.

The 28-year-old fits in well with Sarri's highly-organised and structured style of football, but has found football harder to come by under Lampard in recent times.
