Frank Lampard provides fresh update on Christian Pulisic after Liverpool snub

Frank Lampard has stressed he is going to continue using Christian Pulisic sparingly at Chelsea because he needs time to adapt.

The America international forward has made a promising start at Stamford Bridge following his £60million transfer from Borussia Dortmund.

He has made six appearances under new Blues boss Lampard, but was an unused substitute for the defeat by Liverpool last time out in the Premier League.

Lampard spoke to the press on Friday ahead of Chelsea's clash with Brighton on the weekend.

On Pulisic, he said: "I have four wingers to chose from now they are all fit. Pulisic we forget is 21 because of the price-tag.

"It is normal to have an adaptation period. He has shown some good moments this season and in pre-season but he must do it daily."

He added: "He needs time to adapt but we support him on that. His time will come."

Lampard has blooded a number of youngsters this season - something he has been heavily praised for doing.

On developing the talent at the club, he said: "A huge part of any manager's job is to sit and work with the players.

"Younger or older, but with younger players you want to pass on more knowledge and help them. Sometimes it is being tough. I try to do that as much as possible."
