Frank Lampard provides fresh Tammy Abraham injury update ahead of Hull City clash

Frank Lampard has confirmed that Tammy Abraham has not fractured any bones, after he limped away from Stamford Bridge following Chelsea's 2-2 draw with Arsenal in midweek.

The Chelsea striker injured his ankle in the Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge, having collided with the pitchside advertising hoardings towards the end of the London derby.

He carried on playing, despite being in evident pain, and was seen limping away from the ground after the game.

After the game, the Blues' head coach confirmed that he had ice on his ankle, but that the full extent of the injury was not known.

And speaking ahead of Chelsea's FA Cup fourth round tie with Hull City this weekend, Lampard has given a fresh update on the striker's situation.

"The good news is he hasn't fractured anything, we were worried about a hairline fracture," he said.

"The other news is we still have to see how he develops. It's not a clear-cut one.

"He's not fit for the weekend, but whether he'll be fit for Leicester after that I'm still not sure. It's still not clear at the moment."

Abraham will miss the game at the KCOM Stadium though, with Michy Batshuayi in line to start the game in the striker's absence.

Lampard has, however, called on his players to be more ruthless in front of goal, which is a message he has reiterated with one week left in the January transfer window.

"I think the impetus to bring in a striker or a player to get on the end of chances is there," he said.

"The recent games have shown that. When you are creating 20 chances a game it is clear."
