Frank Lampard provides Christian Pulisic update after Chelsea star's latest injury

Frank Lampard has played down fears Christian Pulisic faces another spell on the sidelines after the Chelsea forward was injured in the warm-up at Burnley.

The Blues ran out 3-0 winners at Turf Moor but Pulisic was replaced in the starting line-up by Timo Werner after tweaking his hamstring.

The American has struggled with injuries since his £58million move to Stamford Bridge and missed the start of the season with a hamstring complaint.

Pulisic came off the bench to score in the 4-0 win at Krasnodar in midweek and Lampard believes he will be back in action soon, insisting his latest injury is "nothing serious".

"He felt something on his hamstring," Lampard said after the match. "We tried to manage him in midweek, but we’ll see what happens in the next 24 hours. We’re talking minor, nothing serious."

Chelsea beat the Clarets thanks to goals from Hakim Ziyech, Kurt Zouma and Werner, and the victory propelled them to fourth in the Premier League table.

Assessing his side's display, Lampard said: "It was a very complete performance from us. It’s a difficult place to come.

"They make it very difficult for teams and they’ve been unlucky in games. We controlled massive parts of the game, so I’m very happy.

"I was always aware at the start of the season that it wasn’t going to be easy. It was asking a lot for us to fly out of the blocks.

"But performances like this show that we’re doing something positive. We need to get our heads down and keep working hard."

The Blues boss added: "It’s tight everywhere. There are games where we’ve been frustrated and dropped points. It’s happening everywhere in the Premier League."
