Frank Lampard proved right over Chelsea's £33.4m signing as Mason Mount's best role is confirmed

Here's all the news from around Stamford Bridge over the past 24 hours.

Mount’s best position confirmed in Burnley victory

Chelsea academy graduate Mason Mount demonstrated his best position is as a number eight in Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Burnley, writes Alan Smith.

The England international excelled in an all-action display that saw him press intensely, make three tackles (joint top with N’Golo Kante for Chelsea), register the most attempts at goal, and played passes that led to clear chances.

The 21-year-old evidently believes that’s his finest position, too, telling Chelsea TV post-match: "I'm a No8, a midfielder. I always have been.

“It's natural for me to play in there. I know I've started a bit wider this season but I loved playing in midfield, it's my position."

But this reality poses an issue for Frank Lampard if he wants to get the best out of Mount regularly, requiring him to play a 4-3-3 system and marquee signing Kai Havertz as a fellow eight.

Here’s the piece in full.

Chilwell moment that delighted Chelsea fans

Clean sheets have been few and far between during Lampard’s tenure as Blues boss, but Chelsea have now kept four in a row in all competitions.

Summer signing Ben Chilwell has had a large influence in that, having played at left-back in almost every minute of those four outings.

Yet one moment, in particular, stood out from his individual display against Burnley on Saturday, coming under pressure from Robbie Brady and coolly dragging the ball back to take the Clarets winger charging past.

His recent performances have resulted in plenty of Chelsea fans loving their new full-back, with lots claiming he’s the best player in his position in the Premier League.

Here’s that moment and how Chelsea fans have responded on social media.

Ziyech proves his manager right against Burnley

Just days after Lampard had praised new recruit Hakim Ziyech for his character and confidence, the Moroccan international proved his manager correct.

Marking his first Premier League start and scoring the opening goal against Burnley, the former Ajax winger put in an all-round excellent performance that also included setting up Timo Werner for the third.

"It has been a really good week for me and hopefully we can continue," he said post-match.

"Especially after the European game, coming here [to Burnley], I think we did a really good game. We started well and gave Burnley problems. They had one big chance at the beginning but after that we controlled the game."

Lampard had called Ziyech a dream to work with behind the scenes, which is something he’s certainly showing in his early displays at Chelsea.
