Frank Lampard names two Chelsea youngsters ready to follow Billy Gilmour into first-team

Frank Lampard namechecked two Chelsea youngsters when asked who the next young talents to break into first team could be.

Scottish midfielder Billy Gilmour impressed in an FA Cup clash against Liverpool and a Premier League game against Everton prior to the suspension of football last month, and Lampard reckons two more young stars could emerge soon.

Speaking on Sky Sports' 'The Football Show' and when asked by Gary Neville to namecheck who the players to follow Gilmour could be, the Chelsea boss said: "We've had another couple of young players [emerge].

"Tino Anjorin came on against Everton and played in the Carabao Cup earlier in the season, and Ian Maatsen played some minutes.

"I don't want to leave out too many others because there are so many good young players that have the potential to come through, but we know the ones that are there.

"One of the first things that we [the coaching team] tried to do at Chelsea was bring them in, and get an idea that if you train well enough in the academy you're not forgotten, it will get flagged, and you will have an opportunity to train with us.

"So there are a few more that have shown themselves when they've come and trained with us.

"We've got quite a lot of numbers that have played now this season, and even the Masons [Mount] and the Tammys [Abraham] have played for their country as well, but they still all have so far to go, and it's a huge plus for the club.

"They will be a huge part of how the club is moving forward, for sure."

England under-19 winger Anjorin came on as a substitute in that win over Everton for his Premier League debut, while Dutch defender Maatsen played in a 7-1 Carabao Cup win over Grimsby in September.
