Frank Lampard names the Chelsea player who could benefit from Thiago Silva decision vs Krasnodar

Antonio Rudiger is in contention to make his first appearance of the season for Chelsea against Krasnodar.

The Germany international has travelled to Russia and could start at centre-back in the absence of Thiago Silva who has stayed behind in London.

Rudiger was a regular in the team last season but has fallen down in the pecking order behind the Brazil international, Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma so far this term.

But with Thiago Silva being rested, Rudiger has been welcomed in from the cold.

It's the first time the 27-year-old has made back-to-back Chelsea matchday squad this season and his return coincides with reports that he held heart-to-heart talks with head coach Frank Lampard.

Addressing the report ahead of Wednesday evening's game, Lampard insisted that he has no problem with Rudiger and confirmed the defender's status for the clash.

"I've had discussions. I saw the story," Lampard said in his pre-match press conference. "I've always had a positive relationship with him.

"Sometimes players are out of the squad but he is very much in contention to play."

Ahead of Lampard's comments to the press, he named a 22-man squad for the trip to Russia, which is in full below...

Goalkeepers: Willy Caballero, Edouard Mendy, Karlo Ziger

Defenders: Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Fikayo Tomori, Kurt Zouma, Ben Chilwell, Reece James, Cesar Azpilicueta, Emerson Palmieri

Midfielders: Jorginho, N'Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz

Forwards: Tammy Abraham, Christian Pulisic, Timo Werner, Olivier Giroud, Callum Hudson-Odoi
