Frank Lampard makes Dele Alli statement after Tottenham star's angry reaction vs RB Leipzig

Frank Lampard has had his say on Dele Alli's angry reaction at being substituted by Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho against RB Leipzig.

The England international was far from happy as the Lilywhites were beaten 1-0 at home in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

It was a disappointing night for Mourinho's side against the Bundesliga outfit and perhaps nobody more so that Alli showed just how frustrated the players were with how things were panning out at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Jose Mourinho finds reporter's questions hilarious

In the 64th minute, with the England international was replaced by Erik Lamela.

And he did not look impressed with the decision as he threw a water bottle to the ground and showed his frustration as he took his seat on the bench, with his side trailing to Timo Werner's goal early in the second half.

Mourinho reacted to Alli's actions in his post-match press conference and suggested there was no issue between himself and the midfielder.

"I think he was angry with his performance. Not with me," the Spurs head coach said.

"I think he understands why I took him off and the team improved."

Mourinho will hope that Alli can channel his frustration into a positive performance when Spurs face Chelsea in a huge Premier League top-four clash at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

And Blues head coach Lampard is rather concerned about the prospect of a fresh Alli doing some damage in west London.

"Of course, he' a top player. He's not my player, so I don't have to be concerned about his reaction about coming off," Lampard said in his pre-match press conference.

"He saved him 20 minutes or so and keeps his legs fresh for tomorrow morning."
