Calum Hudson-Odoi will start Chelsea's clash with Aston Villa on Monday following his energetic substitute appearance in the defeat to Arsenal.
That's according to Frank Lampard, who was impressed with what the winger brought to the party after coming on at half-time in what was a disappointing evening at the Emirates Stadium.
Chelsea lost 3-1 to the out-of-form Gunners, who hadn't won any of their last seven Premier League outings before taking care of their London rivals with goals from Alexandre Lacazette, Granit Xhaka and Bukayo Saka.
The Blues were two down at the break when Lampard decided to throw Hudson-Odoi - as well as Jorginho - into the fray in a bid to rescue the game.
It didn't work with Arsenal effectively killing off the game with their third goal before the hour-mark, but Hudson-Odoi did impress, and so much so that he has earned himself a start against Aston Villa on Monday.
Lampard told Chelsea's Fifth Stand App: “Callum was fantastic with his energy. That’s what we needed and why he will play in the next game.
"If Callum plays like that, then he can be a really serious player.”
Hudson-Odoi will have been frustrated by his lack of game time again this season, starting just once in the Premier League, and that lack of involvement has once again seen him linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge.
But having impressed off the bench, it seems the ball is now in the 20-year-old's court as he looks to win a starting role in Lampard's team of stars.
The Blues could do with some inspiration from the young winger, too, now on a run of three defeats from four ahead of the clash with an in-form Villa side who are now above them in the table.
