Frank Lampard issues positive Callum Hudson-Odoi update amid ongoing Chelsea contract talks

Frank Lampard provided some positive news regarding Chelsea wonderkid Callum Hudson-Odoi during his pre-Manchester United press conference.

But it wasn't to do with the teenager's contract situation.

The winger's current deal with the west London outfit expires in less than 12 months and has been the subject of interest from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the past two transfer windows.

Much to the relief of supporters, the Blues' stance has always been not to sell Hudson-Odoi at any price.

In fact, they have rejected several bids from the German outfit and talks with the teenager are progressing well judging by the numerous hints and teases on social media in recent weeks.

However, Lampard has revealed there's been no update over those contract discussions.

"No, on Callum there's not," Lampard told reporters. "The clubs are talking. We want him to stay, I want him to stay.

"We hope Callum stays, simple as that."

But Lampard did have some good news regarding Hudson-Odoi.

After missing the end of last season with an Achilles injury, the youngster is now back out on the pitch and could be marking his return to action very soon.

"The better news is that he's working hard on his fitness and is back out on the pitch," Lampard added.

"So from my point of view right now that's the really good news and, of course, as a club we'd like that to be longer term."

With that said, Sunday's game at Old Trafford comes too soon for Hudson-Odoi.
