Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has hailed the qualities of new Liverpool signing Thiago Alcantara.
After months of speculation, the Reds completed the signing of the Spain international from Bayern Munich earlier this week.
Thiago arrives on a four-year deal, and will add further quality to Jurgen Klopp’s midfield for the challenging campaign ahead.
The 29-year-old’s debut could come against Chelsea this afternoon, as the Reds head to Stamford Bridge for their first Premier League away trip of the season.
Blues boss Lampard was asked about Liverpool signing Thiago shortly before the deal was confirmed, and he could not speak higher of the World Cup winner.
"He is an incredible player,” Lampard is quoted telling the Metro, just hours before Liverpool announced Thiago’s arrival.
"We saw him first-hand – quality on the pitch, personality on the pitch and off the pitch.
"The quotes from Hansi Flick this week have been talking about him on both fronts and when you hear that from their manager, who has just such success with him at the centre of the team, I think it speaks for itself.
"He is an absolute world-class midfielder in the modern day. If he does come to the Premier League it will be a big plus and a big plus for the team that he comes to."
