Frank Lampard gets massive boost as new Chelsea signing starts training

Frank Lampard has been given a big boost ahead of the upcoming season with one of his new signings starting training at Cobham.

Ben Chilwell joined Chelsea last Wednesday on a £50million deal from Leicester City, having been on of Lampard's top targets for the summer.

However, the left-back is recovering from a heel injury and is a doubt for the start of the 2020/21 Premier League campaign.

And Chilwell has been training on his own in Surrey as he looks to get to full fitness as soon as possible.

"I’m feeling really good," Chilwell said last week to the Chelsea website.

"The injury is healing really well and I’ve been doing a lot of fitness work over the past four or five weeks."

Chilwell is not training with the rest of the squad just yet, with many of Chelsea's side currently on international duty.

Lampard only had the majority of his squad for one week before the friendly at Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Blues take on the same opponent in their opening Premier League game of the campaign on September 14, and Lampard will have little time to work with his squad.

Timo Werner and Antonio Rudiger are in Germany action against Kepa Arrizabalaga's Spain, with expected signing Kai Havertz also set to feature for the Germans.

Thiago Silva is expected to join up with the Blues squad in the coming week ahead of the season opener.
