Frank Lampard explains what Tottenham win has done for his young Chelsea squad

Chelsea clinched an impressive three points against Tottenham Hotspur and Frank Lampard is hoping that will give his young players a boost in confidence.

The Blues went into the tie in north London off the back of four defeats in five Premier League matches and with defeat meaning that Spurs would have leapfrogged Chelsea into the top four.

However, a Willian brace and a spirited performance from Lampard's side meant that the Blues came away with all three points against Jose Mourinho's team.

It was the first time Chelsea had managed to get a win over one of the 'top six' this season, and it came as a big moment for the Blues.

And now Lampard is hoping his players are able to build on that going into the rest of the campaign.

"I hope it helps the younger players in particular, because some of them were in the Championship last year, some of them are getting new tests that they've never had before this season.

"Some of them have been here before and beaten top six teams, won championships, won trophies over the years. So they have been here before and beaten big teams, so it's a bit of a mixture.

"But as a group we're quite fresh and a little bit transitional this year, we all know that.

"Hopefully within the group it sets a little statement to ourselves, not to the outside world.

"I don't mind about how everyone outside reacts about it, but for ourselves that should give us confidence."
