Frank Lampard explains what pleased him most about Kepa Arrizabalaga's Liverpool performance

Frank Lampard admits Kepa Arrizabalaga has put himself back in the frame and admitted his performance against Liverpool was exactly what the Chelsea boss had wanted from him.

The Spaniard was superb during the 2-0 FA Cup win over Liverpool on Tuesday night, making a string of saves in the first half, including an excellent triple stop.

The 25-year-old was dropped as the regular start before the winter break and played his last Premier League match in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal on January 21.

In his place, Willy Caballero has started the last four league matches, and the Champions League last 16 first leg clash against Bayern Munich.

However, the goals have not stopped flowing the Blues's net, with ten goals in those five games.

And Chelsea's head coach admits that the performance from Kepa might have been enough to reinstate him to the number one spot.

"Yeah it’s given me thoughts," Lampard said. "He did very well, it’s exactly what I wanted from him and I understand that that’s not easy because everyone looks to the goalkeeper more than an outfield player.

"All eyes are on and I’ve mentioned in the weeks before that he’s been professional in how he’s handled it when has been out of the team.

"He came in and did exactly what I want so he’s given me good thinking."
