Frank Lampard has opened up on his selection decisions for Chelsea's clash at home to Leicester City.
Tammy Abraham started for the Blues last Sunday in the club's 4-0 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Abraham was benched for the European Super Cup defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday before he appeared as a substitute during the penalty shootout loss.
Olivier Giroud started for Chelsea in midweek and scored the opener during the match and has kept his place in the starting line-up, with Lampard explaining the decision.
"It's just a choice. They have different attributes to give. I thought Tammy did well last week (at United). Unfortunately he didn't get his goal," Lampard told Sky Sports ahead of the game. "If it goes in off the post it's a completely different feeling for him.
"It will be a season during which I've got competition up there. Olivier scored during the week and did well. I've got choices there."
Mateo Kovacic also starts on the bench and Lampard opened up on the decision.
"It's the same in midfield. It was a difficult choice to take Kovacic out of midfield. He didn't deserve to not play at all but I have to make decisions and that is what I've gone with."
Lampard also touched on his return to Stamford Bridge as he looked ahead to his first home match in charge of the Blues.
"It's exciting to be here. It's a place I call home and it's a good feeling for me," Lampard added. "Obviously the job in hand is most important now."
