Frank Lampard has opened up on why Christian Pulisic and not Callum Hudson-Odoi is starting for Chelsea at Burnley this evening in the Premier League.
Hudson-Odoi had started the last two games for the Blues and has impressed since returning from a serious injury, but Pulisic has finally got the nod following three straight strong displays off the bench.
The USA international has provided three assists in his last three games, with the latest coming in the impressive 1-0 win at Ajax in midweek when he assisted Michy Batshuayi's winner in Holland.
But now Lampard believes that Hudson-Odoi deserves a rest, while he insists that Pulisic has also shown enough to deserve a chance from the start.
"Well, I've got selection problems in those areas. Callum (Hudson-Odoi) has played two tough games in those areas," Lampard told Sky Sports.
"Christian (Pulisic) has shown in his recent performances that he can make a difference. It's a bit of both. Christian deserves a start and Callum gets his rest. We'll see."
Chelsea came into the clash at Burnley in great form in the Premier League and the Champions League but Lampard is eager for his players to remain focused.
"I don't see anyone's feet getting off the ground. There is a long way to go. People are getting excited around us about what we can do," Lampard added.
"It's important that we understand the big picture and how brutal the Premier League is. We have to be at it to get results. That has to be our attitude ongoing."
