Frank Lampard has revealed that the injury suffered by Tammy Abraham in Chelsea's draw against Valencia may not be as bad as first feared.
The England international was challenging for the ball in the air and fell awkwardly with a short time remaining in the first half, landing on a defender and appearing in a large amount of pain.
After a lengthy delay while he received treatment, the striker was helped from the pitch when the half-time whistle went.
However, after remaining by the dugout, Abraham was eventually taken away from the field on a stretcher - a worrying sign for the 22-year-old.
Lampard was asked in his post-match press conference whether Abraham was going to hospital for a scan on the injury, but moved to assuage the fears surrounding his No.9.
"I'm not sure if that's true, but he's in the dressing room now," Lampard told reporters.
"The word at half time was it looked quite severe, a bang on the hip.
"Then the word after the game was it might not be as severe as we first thought. That’s as much details as I have."
Mirror reporter John Cross stated that Abraham "hobbled" through the mixed zone after the game.
Abraham has been in fine form this season, and Lampard would be loathe to lose the striker with the festive period of fixtures beginning to ramp up and a London derby against West Ham up next.
