Frank Lampard delivers huge Olivier Giroud transfer blow to Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan

Frank Lampard has ruled out any Chelsea exit for Olivier Giroud today after the Blues failed to sign a striker to replace him.

The 33-year-old has been urging for a move away from Stamford Bridge this month after being left on the sidelines throughout the campaign this season.

Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan and Lazio have all been open to opening the door for Giroud, but the World Cup winner won't be going anywhere this month.

Attempts to bring in Dries Mertens and Edinson Cavani have both fallen by the wayside and it means that Giroud will have to wait out the rest of the season with the Blues.

Giroud's contract with Chelsea runs out in the summer, and while the Frenchman was keen for minutes, Lampard has no issues with the way he has conducted himself during the month.

"Olivier Giroud in this window has been incredible as a professional and as a man," Lampard said. "We all know that there has been interest and I have sat here in every press conference and said ‘if its right for Olivier, for myself and the club’ and he has been impeccable in that period.

"I have got huge respect for him for that and as a player. The answer again is no.

"Will he leave? No.

"It is my job with all the players to try and get the best out of them. In the way I want us to play, the things I want to see of it in each position and get each play to try and buy into what we are trying to do.

"That’s important and it is key across the board, not just with Oli."
