Frank Lampard delivers early Carabao Cup line up news that Chelsea fans will love

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has delivered an early team news update for the Carabao Cup tie against Grimsby Town on Wednesday night.

The former Chelsea star has revealed that he will be ringing the changes for the clash against the League Two side, and a couple of young stars will be making an appearance for the first team.

Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James are set to be involved as they continue their comebacks from serious injuries.

Hudson-Odoi signed a new five-year deal with the club last week, and celebrated by making another appearance for the Under-23s against Southampton on Saturday, scoring once and playing a part in the second goal in a 2-0 win.

James also featured for the young Blues, with youth boss Andy Myers substituting them both after 75 minutes off the clash at St.Mary's.

And Lampard revealed that following their recent experiences in the Premier League 2 matches, the young stars would both be involved as Chelsea's league cup campaign gets underway.

Chelsea 1-2 Liverpool: Frank Lampard press conference

"[Hudson-Odoi and James will] be involved on Wednesday night, they'll be involved," he told the Fifth Stand.

"We certainly need to look at players who haven't been playing as much against Grimsby. We'll pay them due respect, but it certainly is minutes for certain players who haven't been there.

"Callum is on the road to recovery. It was a long injury so he needs game time. And Reece, similarly, so yeah there'll be some different changes but I expect the same level of performance.

"And what I don't want to lose is the feeling of tonight [against Liverpool], the feeling of how we can be and it's important we keep that."
