Frank Lampard delivers double injury update as Chelsea sweat over Christian Pulisic's fitness

Christian Pulisic will be assessed today after coming off in the second half of Chelsea's 1-0 FA Cup quarter-final win away to Leicester City with pain in his left calf.

The American winger had impressed in an odd performance from Frank Lampard's side, standing out in a first half in which the rest of his team-mates struggled, but said he felt tension in a muscle during the second-half drinks break.

He was immediately substituted for Ruben Loftus-Cheek and had an ice pack strapped to his lower leg.

Lampard on Christian Pulisic's potential

Lampard said that he will be checked today and was hopeful it will not be something that keeps Pulisic, who missed all of January and February because of an upper leg injury, out of action.

Andreas Christensen also missed yesterdays win over Brendan Rodgers's side because of a minor hip issue.

"Christian felt a bit of tightness in his calf in the second drinks break so I took him off straight away," Lampard said. "We will find out over the next day or so how that is.

"Hopefully it is nothing that puts him out because we can see what he is doing in the last two games.

"With Andreas, he is having a small problem up in around his hip. He tried to train yesterday and didn’t feel comfortable so he is out of the squad."

Pulisic scored in both the Premier League wins over Aston Villa and Manchester City.

Chelsea will face Manchester United at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final thanks to Ross Barkley's goal midway through the second half yesterday.
