Frank Lampard has confirmed that Christian Pulisic will miss Chelsea's clash against Sheffield United.
Pulisic was initially named in the starting line-up for the Blues' game at Burnley last weekend, but the winger suffered a hamstring scare in the pre-match warm-up.
The USA international was replaced by summer signing Timo Werner, who operated on the left of the front-three, with Tammy Abraham leading the line.
"He [Pulisic] had a small sensation in his hamstring so we had to pull him out," Blues boss Lampard said after that game.
"He couldn't play after feeling that in the warm-up so we'll have to scan it."
Pulisic missed the midweek Champions League clash against Rennes and has now been ruled out of the game on Saturday against Chris Wilder's side.
"[Pulisic] Not fit to play, still suffering with his hamstring," Lampard told reporters in his pre-match press conference.
"He's not training at the moment. Kepa [Arrizabalaga] is recovered. Slight bit of pain but in the squad tomorrow."
On Pulisic, Lampard added: "He trained at a low level in midweek and wasn't comfortable. We have to keep looking for the right solution."
Ahead of welcoming Sheffield United to west London, Lampard played down talk of Chelsea challenging for the Premier League title.
"We have to wait. A long way to go. The start has been open, some unexpected results but it may level itself out. I won't jump ahead too much at the moment but it is open."
Elsewhere, Kai Havertz will also be absent from the Chelsea squad as he continues his period of self-isolation after testing positive for coronavirus this week.
The Germany international is expected to be back in contention for the Blues after the international break.
