Frank Lampard coy on Willian contract situation as Chelsea prepare for winger's exit

Frank Lampard maintains he is relaxed on Willian's contract situation and will adapt either way.

The Brazilian's time at Chelsea could be about to come to an end with the winger's deal winding down.

Willian joined Chelsea in 2013 and has won a host of honours but has spent months negotiating with the Blues over an extension.

The 31-year-old wanted to pen a new three year deal but the west London outfit were not prepared to table more than two.

It looked as if they were poised to go their separate ways before last minute talks were ignited, but Lampard will respect the players wishes as he plans for Chelsea's future.

He said: "I've got a great relationship with Willian. I actually don't know what that decision (contract situation) is.

"If that happens over the next few days, as he said, that will be good to me in either way.

"Of course I'm very happy with Willian. He's had been brilliant with me this season with input and work ethic within the squad.

"But it is his choice and I respect his choice.

"He's been a great servant for Chelsea if he decides to move on and if he does decide to move on, Chelsea obviously moves on as well. We have to look forward ourselves."

The Blues have already added Hakim Ziyech from Ajax ahead of the season's start in September.

Timo Werner, who can play wide, has also joined from RB Leipzig while their interest in German wonderkid Kai Havertz remains.

It could leave opportunities at a premium with the likes of Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi also vying for starting berths in attack.

Pedro, who moved to Stamford Bridge in 2015, has already played his last game for the club as he seeks a new employer.
