Frank Lampard confirms triple Chelsea injury blow ahead of Watford trip

Frank Lampard has delivered some important Chelsea injury news ahead of Saturday evening's Premier League encounter against Watford.

The Blues head coach hasn't had much luck on the injury front so far this season, but it appeared he had been given a major boost when Antonio Rudiger declared himself fit.

"It is very long now [his absence]," he said.

"Even with my cruciate ligament rupture, I was not out for so long.

"I'm itching [to play] but very patient.

Furthermore, Lampard hasn't been able to call upon N'Golo Kante since the international break while Ross Barkley has been absent since picking up an ankle problem in the home win over Newcastle United.

Amid concerns that the trio could miss the clash against the Hornets, Lampard has revealed the latest injury news during his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.

And it's not exactly good news.

"No, he’s not fit," he said about Rudiger. "There was a miscommunication. He’s seeing a consultant on Monday over an ongoing pelvic issue.

"We’ll have to wait for the consultant appointment to see how long he’ll be out.

"Himself and N’Golo carried over injuries from last season and it’s been a domino effect. The players will be frustrated. Disappointing for me because I want to select them but it brings opportunities for other players.

"N’Golo is close, working with the team now. "Ross Barkley is still not right but not far away."

There was some good news regarding Andreas Christensen.

"Andreas Christensen is pretty much fit as well," Lampard added. "It’s the finishing touches now."
