Frank Lampard confirms Nathan Patterson injury blow for Everton amid Dominic Calvert-Lewin admission

Frank Lampard has confirmed Nathan Patterson is facing another spell on the sidelines - and Dominic Calvert-Lewin is suffering from fatigue.

Patterson, who only returned from an ankle injury before the World Cup break, was forced off just after the hour mark in Everton’s 4-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at Goodison Park on Tuesday night.

The Scotland international underwent scans to discover the extent of the problem after the game, but speaking on Thursday afternoon, Lampard revealed the former Rangers man will be out for around six weeks with a medial knee ligament injury.

"Nathan's out for six weeks, unfortunately. It’s a medial ligament injury,” Lampard revealed. "It’s a blow for us. He’s a young full-back who’s come in, broke through and done really well for us. We know that.

“Now it’s time for others to take that mantle and he’ll be back in six weeks. It seems a long time now but he’ll be back.”

Lampard also revealed that, along with Calvet-Lewin suffering from fatigue, Yerry Mina is over a recent illness, and Anthony Gordon could return for Friday’s FA Cup third round tie against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

"We’ve had illness with Anthony Gordon and Yerry Mina. Yerry is over it, Anthony is on the back end of it so we’ll have to consider that,” Lampard said.

“Dominic is pretty fatigued after the Brighton game, so we have to consider that as well going into the game so we’ll see whether he’s fit to start. Other than that I believe we are where we were [before Brighton].”
