Frank Lampard confirms double Chelsea injury blow ahead of Newcastle United visit

Frank Lampard has delivered some important Chelsea injury news ahead of Saturday afternoon's Premier League encounter against Newcastle United.

The October international break was one of real concern for the Blues head coach.

This is because N'Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Andreas Christensen - three key players under Lampard so far this season - picked up knocks whilst representing their respective nations.

Amid concerns that all three could miss the clash against Newcastle at Stamford Bridge, Lampard has revealed the latest injury news during his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.

And it's mixed news.

The bad news is that Kante and Christensen are out, but on a positive front Kovacic is in contention to face the Magpies.

"No, N’Golo is not fit. A small groin issue with France, he isn’t fit for Saturday," Lampard told reporters.

"Kovacic had a knock on his thigh, but in contention.

"Andreas has a hamstring problem which is going to see him out for two weeks."

One player who is available to face the Magpies is left-back Emerson who has been sidelined with an hamstring injury since the 2-1 home loss against Liverpool.

The Italy international returned to training on Wednesday, thus handing Lampard a huge boost with games against Newcastle, Ajax and Manchester United on the horizon.

Taking to social media, he shared a simple eight-word message with Chelsea supporters.

"Good to be back training with the lads!," he tweeted.
