Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard has provided the latest injury news for Blues fans on the eve of the Premier League clash with Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge tomorrow (Saturday).
The Blues welcome the Cherries to west London, with Chelsea looking to bounce back from a disappointing defeat against Everton last weekend.
Lampard's men did make it through to the last 16 in the Champions League with a 2-1 win against Lille in midweek, but defender Fikayo Tomori missed out against the French side with a hip strain.
And Lampard has given an injury update on the defender ahead of the game at Stamford Bridge tomorrow.
"[Fikayo] Tomori is not fit for the game, following on from the other day. Hopefully he should be training next week.," he said, speaking at his pre-match press conference.
Tomori has this week signed a new five-year contract with Chelsea though, after impressing so far this season with the Blues.
And Lampard insists that is fully deserved for the 21-year-old, who he previously worked with last season during his time at Derby County.
“He has come a long way, and that is all his own work," Lampard said.
"From the moment he came to Derby he has shown a work ethic, a want and desire to listen and improve himself. His personality has come out even more. He was quite quiet when he first came to Derby, he is less quiet now.
"I think everybody saw his performances in the Championship last year, Derby Player of the Year. Then big question marks in the summer over whether he can do it in the Premier League. He certainly hasn’t proved that yet over a period of time, which is the important thing.
“But from my point of view I have full trust in him. I am delighted in him to where he has got to now. The important thing now is that he doesn’t take anything for granted now that he has got that five-year contract. It is important that the hard work starts again. I am delighted with what he has done.”
Meanwhile, Lampard provided an update on Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who is yet to feature for the Blues this season as he continues his recovery from an Achilles injury.
But it is not good news, with Lampard suggesting that he faces more time on the sidelines.
“I don’t know, I don’t know," he said, when asked how long he will be out for.
"Probably more than weeks."
