Frank Lampard can unleash his dream Chelsea attack against Southampton as Hakim Ziyech returns

Chelsea bolstered their squad with some exciting attacking talent in the summer transfer window.

Germany pair Timo Werner and Kai Havertz arrived from RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen to increase head coach Frank Lampard's options in that area of the pitch which already included the likes of Christian Pulisic, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Tammy Abraham.

But perhaps the most anticipated summer signing is Hakim Ziyech.

Chelsea's Champions League inclusions and omissions

The 27-year-old was actually the first summer arrival after the Blues agreed a £33.4m deal with Ajax, which could rise to a maximum of €44m (£36.7m) shortly after the January transfer window closed.

However, the playmaker is yet to feature for the west London outfit.

That is because he sustained a knee injury in the pre-season draw with Brighton and Hove Albion in August.

As a result, he missed the Premier League opener against the same opposition as well as the Liverpool loss, the 3-3 draw at West Brom, the 4-0 win over Crystal Palace, and Carabao Cup ties against Barnsley and Tottenham Hotspur.

With that said, Ziyech has been back in training over the past month and seems certain to make his Chelsea debut after the international break against Southampton.

And in a major boost for Lampard and the Blues, the attacking midfielder made his first appearance since August for Morocco in their friendly win over Senegal on Friday night.

Introduced just before the hour mark, Ziyech would not only come through the game injury-free, but also claimed an assist from an inch-perfect free-kick.

It remains to be seen if Ziyech will start against the Saints next weekend, but Lampard could unleash his dream quartet that also includes Havertz, Pulisic, and Werner if he chooses to.

One way to get the quartet into the same side would be Werner as the centre-forward and Ziyech, Havertz, and Pulisic in the supporting roles.

On the prospect of having Ziyech and Pulisic available, Lampard has said: "I think they will all bring the best out of each other.

"It's a shame we haven't had them. Hakim will bring something completely different for us.

"I am very excited to have them fit.

"I have a clear idea of where I want them to play."
