Frank Lampard agrees to become the new Everton manager

Frank Lampard has agreed a two-and-a-half-year deal to become Everton manager.

And the former Chelsea boss will have his appointment officially confirmed on Monday - which is also expected to be a busy transfer deadline day for the club.

Lampard, 43, replaces the sacked Rafa Benitez and is set to bring Paul Clement to Goodison with him, as his assistant.

Coach Joe Edwards is also expected to arrive with Lampard but it is unclear if there is a role for Duncan Ferguson in the new coaching set-up.

Everton are keen to bolster Lampard’s squad on the final day of the window.

They are closing in on the loan signing of Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek - but further additions are likely to be targeted.

Lampard’s first game in charge of the Blues will be Saturday’s FA Cup tie at home to Brentford.

He will then take Everton to Newcastle United on February 8 in a huge clash at the bottom of the table.
