Franck Kessie told to make crucial transfer decision amid Arsenal and Tottenham links

Former AC Milan midfielder Demetrio Albertini has told Franck Kessie to make a decision on his future based on his career and not on the finances of a potential club.

The comments come as the 24-year-old reaches the end of his deal at the San Siro next summer.

The Rossoneri midfielder has been linked with a number of clubs who are reportedly interested in his services on a free transfer, with Arsenal and Tottenham among those who have been rumoured with a move.

The Ivory Coast international has been praised for his ball-winning ability in the Milan double pivot.

Whilst he looks to help the side regain possession with his tenacity, Ismael Bennacer would look to play the ball from deep to pick out teammates going forward.

Speaking about the 24-year-old, ex-Milan midfielder Albertini said to Gazzetta dello Sport: “I would never give up on Kessie. I would appreciate if he made a professional and not an economic choice.

“Staying at Milan today means marrying a growth project over time.

“Maybe you won’t win the Champions League next year, but in a few years yes.”

A move for the Gunners could see them strengthen their midfield, where they added Albert Sambi Lokonga in the summer but the injury to Granit Xhaka and ongoing injury issues for Thomas Partey have meant that Mikel Arteta has struggled for consistency in the middle of the park.

Add the expiring contract of Mohamed Elneny into the mix and a move for Kessie makes sense.

As for Spurs, the transfer could see them make yet another acquisition from Serie A, somewhere director of football Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte know well from their time there.

Whilst Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg can play as a destroyer, he has shown his ability further up the pitch and the introduction of Kessie could allow him to do just that.

Time will tell if the midfielder lands in London or even in England, with many European sides linked with a move on a free transfer and plenty of time for a suitor to win him over.
