Francisco Ramos has thanked Bruno Fernandes for suggesting he would be the ideal player to join him at Manchester United.
United are looking to strengthen their midfield again at the end of the season with Premier League duo Jack Grealish and James Maddison both under consideration.
However, new arrival Fernandes might want them to sign one of his closer friends instead.
Speaking earlier in the month the Portuguese international was asked which player from his former clubs he would like to play alongside again.
"It is very difficult to choose, because I have a lot of locker room people who are my friend," the United midfielder stated. "Wherever I played? Francisco Ramos."
Ramos has been a close friend of Fernandes ever since the came through the Portuguese youth ranks together, however the Vitoria Guimaraes midfielder admits his compatriot is overall a better player than himself.
"I'm a friend of Bruno's and we talk every day, so I already thanked him for his thoughts," Ramos told Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.
"He replied that he didn't do me any favours. We can have similar characteristics, but his finishing and his final ball is more accurate."
