Francis Coquelin sends warning to ex-Arsenal teammates ahead of Europa League clash

Francis Coquelin has said his Valencia side can take advantage of Arsenal's struggles away from home in their Europa League semi-final decider.

It's no secret that the Gunners are a totally different side on their travels. They've lost their last three in the Premier League and were beaten on their visits to BATE Borisov and Rennes in the earlier rounds of the European competition.

As a result, Valencia will fancy their chances of overturning a 3-1 deficit at the Mestalla on Thursday evening.

Unai Emery includes three youngsters in Arsenal squad to face Valencia in Europa League decider

Marcelino's side will also take encouragement from the fact that twice this season in cup games they have trailed after the first-leg, against Sporting Gijon and Getafe en route to the Copa Del Rey final.

On both occasions, Valencia made home advantage in the second leg count and Coquelin - who is available to face his former club after missing out on an Emirates Stadium reunion through suspension - has warned his ex-teammates that the La Liga outfit are out to make history.

"It would be a very special feeling to win against Arsenal, especially because I couldn’t play in the first game," Coquelin said, as per the Metro. "But even more it would be special to reach the final and make another small bit of history with this club.

"Away from home they [Arsenal] are a different team. They drop the intensity a little bit and that means we can score goals and do damage, especially with the attack that we have.

"The team is ready to make a comeback. The goal we scored there helps us a lot. It will be a difficult game but with the quality we have, we believe we can do it.

"The fans always help us a lot at home, they did against Getafe in the cup when we made a spectacular comeback and the team is ready to do the same again."

Another ex-Gunner in line to face his former club is Gabriel Paulista. He completed 90 minutes at the Emirates Stadium last week and will know that keeping a clean sheet is key to Valencia reaching the final.
