The late Nirvana frontman, Kurt Cobain, is being celebrated once again, this time with a new clothing collection of t-shirts and hoodies.

Entitled Kurt Was Here, the pieces feature Cobain’s handwritten journal entries, paintings and drawings.

Each item in the collection has been designed and curated under the watchful eye of Cobain’s 27-year-old daughter with Courtney Love, Frances Bean Cobain.

Alongside the apparel, a coffee table book and limited-edition fine art prints will also be released later in the year, with additional products being added in 2020.

“We believe that the importance of art is exceedingly potent in today’s social and political climate and that it is the right time to share this collection of Kurt’s work with artists, collectors and fans, allowing them to experience Kurt’s legacy in a new way, and collectively celebrate his lasting impact on the world," read a statement about the release.

Although Cobain has been used on merchandise and fashion collaborations for years, this is the first official collection to use his artwork, which has not been edited on the garments so that the customer "can experience the fluidity and potent subject matter as it was intended."

A portion of all online sales will be donated to the Jed Foundation, a leading non-profit organisation dedicated to protecting emotional health and preventing suicide among teens and young adults.

The collection is available to buy now from Selfridges and KurtCobainShop.com.
