Kick-off: 8.15am BST

Two European heavyweights collide when Wales take on France in the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals.

Wales have dominated Les Blues in recent times with seven wins in their last eight meetings and will be bolstered by the return of Dan Biggar – available for selection again after a concussion.

France’s campaign threatened to veer into chaos before what would have been an all-too familiar civil war was averted before booking their place in the knockout stage.

A crushing win over USA following a hard-fought win over Argentina has steadied the ship.

Team news and line-ups

Wales have received a positive fitness update on three key backs ahead of their World Cup quarter-final clash.

Biggar had gone off with head injuries in his last two matches, while George North also sat out Sunday’s win over Uruguay with an ankle injury.

Both are back in full training and were joined by centre Jonathan Davies, in Beppu near Oita on Tuesday, who has recovered from a knee complaint.

France meanwhile have doubts over two key players with scrum-half Antoine Dupont and winger Damian Penaud sitting out of training this week.

Score prediction: Wales 28-22 France

A couple of major injury boosts for Wales and a couple of major doubts could steer the contest in the favour of Warren Gatland’s side.

Head to Head record and history (h2h)

There have been 97 past meetings between these two sides with Wales winning 50 of those. France are not far behind with 44, with three draws contested between them.

France have just one win in the last eight meetings however – coming on home turf in February 2015.
